Another Angry Leftist
53This morning in the opinion section of my local left-leaning newspaper, I read the latest offering from syndicated columnist Richard Reeves. I had not previously heard of this man, but from the brief selection of his work that I sampled, I am pretty sure about his opinion of conservatives and Christians. The topic of his article was Glenn Beck's 8-28 rally in our nation's capital. Of course, according to Mr. Reeves, this event was so cloaked in secrecy that he (Reeves) was "not sure what Beck was trying to prove." Personally, I believe that statement to be a bit less than honest as Beck had been quite clear about his goals for the rally.
As the article continues, it seems that Mr. Reeves really DOES understand the purpose of the event. In fact, the author, like many MSM "journalists" sneers at the concept of religion and having faith in a power higher than ourselves. He even mockingly proclaimed--"Let's hear it for God." That message was central to Beck's theme for the day, but it is just SO politically incorrect that it is beneath the leftists to embrace it.
Again, I must wonder what problem liberals and progressives have with faith in a God. Now, don't misunderstand, if your God is Allah, the MSM TOTALLY accepts and reveres your opinions; the problem they have is with the vast majority of Americans who do NOT practice Islam. Mr. Reeves even added, near the end of his piece, that Beck's message was to "turn our faces back to the values and principles that made us great." I would be VERY interested to know how and why that particular message has so enraged the progressives. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that to some of them, Obama is the anointed one himself. One MSM outlet had predicted the rally would be a "pit of hatred". Those liberal elites are surely smart enough to know that Christianity does not really advocate violence or hate. That sort of stuff is left to other faiths that seem to do just that daily.
It's sad, really. At least we don't have to deal with what they will in the end. I'm tired of reading and listening to the crap spewing out of the mouths of the journalists, I wish someone would knock them all over the head and make some sense come out!

I'm lucky - I like to listen and people like to talk to me. And having listened, I know those such as the writer you mentioned feel so superior to muslims they think of them as the pagans of old with multiple little gods. At the same time, they think of Christianity as the seat of morals and ethics, which they don't like because they can't live up to the ideals. They call Christians who fall 'hypocrites', while saying they are not hypocrites because they never tried to be better.

I'm with you buddy. It still amazes me---though at this point it shouldn't---that those so-called compassionate and caring folks on the left really only care for and about folks who are unwilling to help themselves. I too was SHOCKED by the rudeness that "gentleman" used while mocking Christians. Too bad the MSM just smiles about these hate-filled stories that ALWAYS seem to originate on THEIR side of the aisle.

Thanks for stopping by. While I was reading that hateful article I felt my blood beginning to boil and knew I had an inspiration for a good hub. I wish some lib could just explain what the heck is wrong with honor and values. I bet they can't even articulate why these ideas are so very horrifying to them.

These are the values of our country. Why do the libs want to ignore all of the quotes from previous presidents and patriots about how important our faith and the Bible are for our country? The answer is that the devil has ahold of them. That may sound corny and trivial, but it isn't at all. And Islam is an evil religion. Not just because of terrorism but because they stone their daughters to death for nothing, they arrange marriages for them when they are only teenagers with old men, they have many wives, I could go on and on. And if the libs are such human rights activists, why doesn't this bother them about Islam? This isn't radical Islam, this is just Islam, that is practiced everyday, under Sharia law, in Islamic countries all over the world!!! I always say there is no such thing as radical Islam...ISLAM IS RADICAL!

WOW!! Thanks for that great comment. Personally, I don't trust islam, and IF there are moderates, WHY are they so quiet? Some MSM paper recently said stoning wasn't really that bad because it doesn't happen often. How twisted is that?

Islam is not the religion of peace as they want us to think. Written right in their book, they are told they MAY NOT allow other faiths to co-exist. Guess brushing the sand off their feet and moving on like the Bible teaches, is just out of the question.

I am more than a bit skeptical about this whole "religion of peace" thing too. When I read this guy's article, I was just stunned by the venom he used when talking about God. Guess if you don't believe, you are free to belittle those who do. Don't know if you watch O'Reilly, but that idiot Bill Maher was on last week, and he just straight out called Christians morons!!

He wouldn't be writing about it if he wasn't afraid of it. Progressive thought is (supposedly) tolerant of all viewpoints. Diversity is their rallying cry, isn't it?
