God Bless America.......AND Glenn Beck
66This past Saturday, August 28, 2010, Glenn Beck was the host of an enormous rally in our nation's captial. For months, he had been urging people to attend the rally, but the one thing he asked was that NO POLITICAL SIGNS be brought to the event. Mr. Beck wanted the purpose of this rally to be in support of returning this nation to its' former greatness while also restoring the honor of Americans AND the country. Now, if your only media sources are from the MSM, you probably have very little understanding of the actual reason for and attendance of this event. According to CNN, it was a "conservative rally" and former DNC chair Howard Dean said Beck is mentally ill, and that Beck is also a racist. Well, if YOU take your time and energy in order to seek out the TRUE meaning of the rally, you would probably be pleasantly surprised.
During the event, Beck and the other speakers did NOT have a republican campaign rally, but rather, a rally in support of some of the principles upon which this nation was founded---FAITH, HOPE, and CHARITY. There were NO political speeches. Nobody mentioned Obama or his policies. Everyone was well behaved--no arrests were made during the event. In fact, there were approximately 300,000 people in attendance, and there were NO PROBLEMS from the atendees. However, the MSM did their level best to mischaracterize this as a racist, hate-filled bash Obama fest full of bigots and small-minded fools. I guess that in their eyes, I am all of those things because I only WISH I had been able to attend.
If you ARE interested in the meaning of the entire thing, here it is. Beck, religious people from every denomination, and average American citizens came together to encourage each other to return to the principles upon which this nation was founded. Beck called this a restoring honor rally, because THAT was truly his only purpose. Beck, and the THOUSANDS who attended want only for this nation to STOP turning away from God, and embrace our lives in a more compassionate and caring manner and HELP those who need help. Comport yourself as you would WERE your God watching. Remember, it really doesn't matter what you do while folks are watching that matters, it is important what you do when NOBODY is watching.
Regardless of what our current president insists to be the truth---that we are no longer a Christian nation--he is sorely and sadly mistaken. Of course, under that banner of God, there are ALL types of different people and ALL types of different faiths. Beck even had pastors, reverands, Rabbis, Fathers, and Imams join him on the stage. They all joined arms and voiced their support for this POWERFUL and POSITIVE message. It is such a discouraging and mournful thing that the MSM could not even put away their biases and disdain for ANYONE not part of their "elite" group and just love and appreciate America for a few brief minutes. We all know, love of America is NOT too high on their priority lists. So much the worse for our republic.
Now, as my title states, I believe that each and every one of us who is lucky enough to be a citizen of the greatest nation God EVER made should take a minute and thank our God (whichever God you prefer) for the magnificence that is FREEDOM, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of happiness. It is an utter shame that our current administration BELIEVES that we are incapable or unwilling to help ourselves. Their EVERY action and deed supports the FACT that they deeply feel that the average citizen NEEDS the government to be ever-present and ever-controlling in ALL our lives. Whether you like Beck or not, and I know MANY do NOT, I think that he deserves a great big THANK YOU from this nation. I also KNOW that we must continue to pray and hope that God will continue to bless America!

This was such a positive message Beck gave out, and the left are attacking him all over on this, and what is their bases for attack. They surely looked foolish on this one, but the is typical, they always look foolish.

I know. It is really ridiculous that the left is railing against this rally, and the only goal was to bring folks together and get to thinking about something greater than ourselves. Of course, we KNOW the disdain the left has for any religion except the muslim faith, so this should not be much of a surprise!!

voted up & beautiful! I'm glad Beck did not release the particulars before the rally and look how NBC and the other media distorted the intent as well as the message. I would say God has had no desire to bless America under the current administration who claims we (America) are no longer a Christian nation. How could we be with a muslim in charge. I just hope those foolish enough to vote for him have seen the error of their ways and help the rest of us 'God fearing' Americans start replacing this mistaken ideology in November.
God bless America in spite of our leadership and return us to our 'uniqueness' again among the worlds nations is my hope and prayer...
There are now so many crazy people in this country that I am not sure it's safe to go outside. The rally wasn't political, Al Sharpton is a buffoon, the administration thinks we are all gullible idiots and common sense and truth are dead. Let's turn this mess around in November. Great hub Tom.
..Hi Sheri! My daughter, son in law and my granddaughter were in attendance on Saturday. She reports that it was, without a doubt, the most awe inspiring event she has ever been to; and she has been to many including last years' Washington DC tea party rally. She most loved the miracle of the geese in v formation flying over the reflecting pool, saying that the roar of the crowd began at the end of the pool and grew as they flew the full length. God's presence, she said, was truly there. Like you, I wish I could have been there, but I was 1 of the many who watched it on CSpan and on the internet. Thanks for your thoughts on the event; it is an event that will be remembered for many years.

Thanks for such a thoughtful and accurate comment. One could hope the MSM would be dismayed by how far off the mark they were, but they NEVER admit fault. It was just a quarter of a million bigoted rednecks, strangest of all, there were actually people of OTHER ethnicities there as well. I suppose the MSM would claim that those folks are just full of self-loathing!!

My mom and daughter attended the event on 9-12 last year, but I stayed home so I wouldn't miss work. One of my co-workers DID attend this past weekend and brought some AWESOME pics he shared. Thanks so much for taking a read and I appreciate your comment!!

Sheri...What a great hub. I saw most of Glenn Beck's show yesterday about the rally and it was super. Wish I could have gone. Beck is an amazing man. I fear for his life though. Some crazy person is most likely out to get him. He sure doens't seem afraid though. God bless Glenn Beck. He sure blessed this rally.

I agree that Beck's rally did seem to have heavenly aid. That man would have been an awesome preacher. At least he did wear a bullet-proof vest Saturday, but it is really sad and disturbing that his wife felt the need to make him do it.

When I clicked on your name, it took me to a different site, I think. you should become a member of hubpages. It is free and easy to sign up. I have a decent following of other conservatives. If you become a member, and follow me, I will do likewise. Here on HP, if you read other blogs, leave comments, and get involoved, you WILL get some readers. I just do this for fun, so if money is your goal, I am not really sure how to help. You could click on the help icon at the top when you become a member.

I know, the MSM COMPLETELY blew it. Even after the rally, when the FACTS were laid bare, they STILL refused to see ANY positive whatsoever. I bet if it had been a group of 300,000 MUSLIMS, the praise would STILL be emanating from the MSM....sick, twisted idiots!!

I find great difficult in finding anything wrong with returning to the principles upon which this nation was founded. These are our guide posts and always should be as a free nation. Those who would paint that in a negative light have an agenda which does not bold well for the future of America or its people. The one mistake the Founding Fathers assumed was that the Press or Media would always be free and work as an independent voice of the people. Somewhere along the line, that voice and that guard died to a large degree. Now, it is up to us as individuals to discern right from wrong, democracy from socialism, and communist from liberators. Our future depends on it. There will be no miracles once America is destroyed. Thanks for a good article Sheri! WB

I really appreciate your great comment. I agree with your point, even if you HATE Beck and Palin, WHAT is wrong with honor, morals, and values??? A lib wrote a hub knocking the rally, and when I commented like I just did---you know, what is wrong with integrity---the lib denied my comment. NO SURPRISE THERE!!! I wonder if the left would support a satanic rally since this one sure seemed to get them riled up!
