Our Liar-in-Chief is at it Again!

67

By SheriSapp

Today is Monday, the 19th of July, 2010 and I just watched King Teleprompter's latest Rose Garden speech in which he continued to show his ignorance and he spewed even more of his all-too-common lies.  In fact, he was accompanied by three "average" Americans who are unemployed and have been searching, fruitlessly, for a new job. His use of these folks as nothing more than props was almost more disturbing than his inaccurate and incorrect statements regarding unemployment benefits provided by the federal government.  The purpose of this press briefing was simply to lambaste the republicans for being such big, mean bullies to the unemployed.

Why does President It-Is-Not-My-Fault-Blame-Bush Obumma continue to divert ANY fault from his party and himself; I guess just because he can and the lib media helps him to do this. Since this anointed man became the president in January of 2009, the only segment of our economy that has grown and added new jobs is the FEDERAL GOVERMENT. Private industry is too uneasy to make new hires, because of the programs and policies of THIS MAN and his democrat minions. However, rather than actually address the underlying issue---high unemployment, no private sector job creation--it is simpler to just AGAIN blame republicans because the unemployed have used up their NINETY-NINE WEEKS of unemployment pay; and the republicans are balking at extending these benefits further, UNLESS IT CAN BE DONE WITHOUT ADDING TO OUR ENORMOUS DEBT!!!!!

BO is not a fool. He completely understands what the republicans want to do. He comprehends that there is no opposition from republicans to help the unemployed. He also fully knows that if HE and HIS PARTY were willing to make ANY spending cuts ANYWHERE to pay for this extension, the republicans would support the legislation. Sadly for our nation, this liar calls a press briefing and coyly tells only HALF-TRUTHS at best, outright LIES at worst.  As I said, it was very disturbing to see the citizens that Barry had flanking him in his press briefing because these are actual people who are unemployed and need help. Rather than allow any of them to speak, Barry just pointed to them as he told their really sad stories. I wonder if any of those three were thinking about WHY BO, who jammed unwanted healthcare through, is COMPLETELY INEPT and UTTERLY CLUELESS when it comes to being the chief executive of our nation. How many different times have we heard the liar PROMISE that he would focus on jobs and job creation with a laser-like focus? How many times has he FAILED to help in the creation of ANY new jobs? Remember the promise about unemployment remaining BELOW 8% if his stimulus bill passed? Well, it passed, and here we are 18 months later with 9.7% unemployment and NO NEW PRIVATE SECTOR job creation.

Frankly, I am beyond sick and disgusted with this idiot president and his total ineptitude when it comes to governing America. He refuses to make any spending cuts whatsoever, then blames republicans for wanting any new laws funded without additional debt. Please also remember BO's "spending commission" and HIS vow to use pay-as-you-go lawmaking. Oh, it sure looks like he didn't even listen to himself on that one!

On this one Sheri I happen to side with the American worker, and I think the republicans have it wrong. I absolutely agree that the democrats have it wrong as to how we get ourself out of this economic recession, and the republicans SHOULD be concerned over the enormous debt tax payers will have to pony up for for many years to come. Still, the American worker is the one who paid the taxes that paid for those unemployment benefits. The American worker is the one who paid the taxes for those folks to receive $8,000 credits to buy houses. The American worker is the one who paid the taxes for those banks to be bailed out. The American worker is the one who paid the taxes for people to run out and buy new cars.

The republicans CANNOT take the benefits away from the very people whose backs will be busted to pay for the debts. The American worker did not ask to be laid off. The American worker did not ask to be faced with unemployment and the loss of his livelihood. We should not be treating hard working American taxpayers as the enemy, and I think in a way that's exactly what the republicans are doing with this issue right now. What the repubs NEED to say is "We're on your side. We'll get these businesses doing business again, and we'll get you back to work. In the meantime, we've got you covered."

If you turn your back on the American worker you are turning your back on THE VERY ECONOMY YOU ARE TRYING TO SAVE. The American worker, employed or not, IS the economy. He is the tax payer and he is the consumer. Keeping his ass covered is and should be the republicans first and foremost priority...

The American worker will not forget that once the republicans DO get them back to work, and they WILL, that they will be the bread and butter that will pay for the enormous debt we've racked up helping the banks and the ones who acted irresponsibly. They will repay in taxes FAR MORE than will ever receive in benefits.

SheriSapp profile image

SheriSapp Hub Author 22 months ago

Springboard,

Thanks so much for your very thoughtful comment. I agree that the workers are the ones getting screwed over here. However, I think if BO would actually focus on job creation, as he has said time and again he would, there could be some success. I hope that if republicans gain enough seats in November then BO and his dems may be forced to pass some business friendly legislation.

Springboard profile image

Springboard Level 5 Commenter 22 months ago

Barack Obama will not ever focus on that. He cannot. In his convoluted view of things, he's doing the necessary things. No one will convince him otherwise. Neither will anyone convince the democrats. So, what the republicans MUST do is continue to support business, support tax cuts and incentives, but NOT in doing that leave the American worker behind. These are not lazy people looking for a free ride who are unemployed. These are hard working, tax paying Americans who have found themselves in a mess not necessarily of their own design.

The republicans better get that right. If you tell me you are FOR the American worker and you vote against him—which is what you do if you deny him his benefits—you are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

You don't bail out a bank who destroyed the economy and then look at the worker who ends up in the mess of it all and say "shame on you for collecting benefits."

SheriSapp profile image

SheriSapp Hub Author 22 months ago

Springboard,

I am not talking out of both sides of my mouth. I do support the American worker, but I also agree that this MUST be paid for before it is extended. BO could make cuts to his enormous gov programs and have the money right there, but it is not politically helpful to his party to do this. I agree that republicans should try to help the workers, but even if they gave the WH some cuts that could be made to help pay for this, the dems would just poo poo. Remember how we were told that HCR would NOT be a tax, but now we know it really is? I don't trust anything these dems say, they lie constantly, and if this is not funded up front, it WILL add to our unsustainable debt.

Now as for the continued rise in unemployment in spite of my Marvelous Stimulus Packages; Bush put us in such a ditch even my brilliant stimulus packages couldn’t save us but remember; it’s not my fault….

Now you just wait, those green jobs will take off soon and when they do we’ll have 110% full employment (a page out of Yogi Berra Math made easy)… Green energy, green vegetables; people turning green from my Green Health Care Package; Green Taxes so as to redistribute your greenbacks to those less fortunate; Green Cards for all Undocumented Democratic Voters; and finally “It’s good to touch the green green grass of Home” as Granny comes home to her final resting place earlier than expected because of rationed healthcare…………………………….BUT REMEMBER IT’S BUSH’S FAULT!!!

I don't think the Republicans are saying they don't care about the American worker, they are saying that extending the benefits needs to be paid for without increasing the deficit. Let's see the Obama administration step up to the plate and finally do something for the American worker. Right now they are just trying to make Republicans look bad.

Springboard profile image

Springboard Level 5 Commenter 22 months ago

Sheri, I probably should have worded my reply comment a little differently. When I was saying "talking out of both sides of your mouth" I was referring to the republican party. Not to you.

As for funding the benefits, I understand where you are coming from. But it's too late for that. It's simply too late for that. We're talking about apples and oranges. The bailout of AIG, just as one example, does not even come close to what we're talking about in the cost of benefit extensions.

As to POP's comment I think she's right. But it's not just the democrats trying to make republicans look bad. Republicans are trying to do the same on this issue to the democrats. It makes both parties look stupid IMO. It makes it very clear that nobody in Washington has a clue, not one iota of a clue, what's going on in the real world and the problems and issues the AVERAGE American is facing right now. Besides, did they do this kind of bickering when it came to the last pay raise they gave themselves? Absolutely not. The whole argument of spending on an issue like this is just ludicrous, and it's a show. SINCE WHEN has either side given a damn about spending? This is just another way to politicize a position the opposing party has.

I absolutely cannot stand with any organization that is going to pick on the guy who is in a situation which is AS A RESULT of mistakes made at the top. Pay the benefits and fix the economy and knock off pointing fingers is what I say. It's getting nothing done, and it's solving not a single problem. And once again the American worker is getting the shaft.

That much is clear. He lost when everyone else screwed up. Now he's going to lose again while the people who are supposed to be doing the work of the American taxpayer who IS the worker turn life issues into political ones.

The truth is that the Dems passed legislation to pay for any bill they pass. The republicans are saying pay for the unemployment extension out of the stimulus money and don't add pork.. I love your hub, a must-share, to my Facebook friends. I agree unemployment is terrible, I can find a job here, in Houston, but not one that pays more than child care, so I would actually lose money. Despite my hardships and living on very little at this time, I am not going to wine and complain like some unemployed who expect to get a free check every month for doing nothing. It doesnt matter how hard you worked in the past...if you are unemployed it is somewhat selfish to steel from your childrens future so you can get a check now. 99 weeks may be gone, but maybe this is a wake up call especially for men, who have no idea how single mothers suffer under the same situations. A woman cant leave her kids at young ages of 2,3 or5 alone to work 12 hour shifts, to do hard labor. Men can work, if they are willing to work their asses off doing labor... The only way a woman could come close to making that sort of money is stripping.... which i just will not do, sadly many women do turn to that, or leaving children all alone if they have no one to watch them at night, to work.

over all, I say, vote what is right, any one who has a heart knows this administration is corrupt and that republicans have sold out a while back when it comes to bailing on constitutional protection and conservative frugality I will never second guess counter voting, if its my only choice, we have seen what not voting can do...its called obama...

American workers who are upset over unemployment may have to just wake up, complacency has its limit and America is about to cave... it sucks, its not easy...but quit wining folks and do something... if you have a house, plant your own gardens, sell your unwanted items on consignment or ebay, get creative, tough it out...what do you think I am doing.... welcome to the world of motherhood!!!!

May I add

Obama appeared on (7/19/10 ) in the rose garden, told the public more half truths about the bill to extend unemployment benefits, closed the speech and walked off the dais without giving answers to questions from the media. wonder why ?

President Barak Obama again brought up how and what he inherited from the previous administration. Some how he forgets that the Democrat party was in control (he was a member of the Senate too ) of the economy for Bush’s last 2 years ( not 4 years ). Obama spoke of the Bush tax cuts that are due to expire this year saying that the Republicans want to extend them. That’s another fallacy by this president, the minority Republicans have 0 control over the tax cuts hence to keep them or let them expire is totally the responsibility of President Barak Obama and the majority ( can pass all legislation without the need for a Republican vote ) Democrat Congress.

Note, if Obama allows the Bush tax cuts to expire he will break another campaign promise not to raise taxes on the middle class. It’s a pity that our president can’t stand on his own record of arrogance, inexperience and ineptness.

On 7/21/10 the senate got the 60 votes needed to put the bill up for a vote. The $34 billion extension of unemployment benefits will not be deficit neutral as required by PAY-GO legislation signed into law by President Barak Obama on 2/13/10.

2/13/10 2:04 PM EST ( NOTE THE DATE )

President Barack Obama is hailing pay-as-you-go budget legislation he SIGNED Friday night as one in a series of crucial steps needed to snap Washington out of a destructive pattern of overspending.

“Now, Congress will have to pay for what it spends, just like everybody else,” Obama said in his radio and Internet address released Saturday

morning. “After a decade of profligacy, the American people are tired of politicians who talk the talk but don’t walk the walk when it comes to fiscal responsibility. It’s easy to get up in front of the cameras and rant against exploding deficits. What’s hard is actually getting deficits under control. But that’s what WE MUST DO

Wake up America ,seek the whole truth and nothing but the truth before the destruction of our great nation.

Love is a beautiful word that helps one to find Peace. The answers to the many discussions between hubbers of both sides that brutally attack each other is in finding the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Candidate Barak Obama ran on bringing change to Washington. He promised jobs, a better economy, rid Washington of lobbyist, open and transparent government, bipartisanship between parties, end the wars, close guitmo, surround himself with good people in his administration and to unite the American people for a better America.

President Obama has not provided open and transparent government, has ignored the will of the people in pushing thru legislation, has directed a bail out of certain industries, has controlled a government take over of 60% of the economy and his order of a moratorium on oil drilling in the US is destroying the economies of many states.

President Lincoln once said '' to remain silent is to be a coward''. Some of our good representatives in Washington remain silent, they were elected by the people to serve the people first, not their radical party leaders. The November elections can't come soon enough to rid Washington of the scum and corruption.

The future of our country is in the people rising up to voice our concerns. Maybe impeachment is in the future ?

Increased size in government means more tax liability to pay for more government pensions.

Government pensions should be replaced by 401K plans instead of these defined benefits pensions where the taxpayer has to ensure that the government pension is fixed and not dependent on the economy.

This is a problem caused by Congress and the Presidents of the last several decades.

But BO is not helping the taxpayer.

Latest half truth,President Obama simply a Politician.

OUR GOVERNMENT IN ACTION TODAY 8/10/10 PASSED A $26 BILLION JOBS BILL. President Obama signed the bill and proclaimed the bill will provide money to keep 140,000 teachers on the job and that the bill was deficit neutral, that’s what he said. Another half truth exposed that you will not see in the mainstream media or press.

The WHOLE truth is that only $10 billion was to go to the teachers (for pensions, our money to pay back union pensions shortfalls ). The other $16 billion is going to states to pay for Medicaid programs going broke in California, New Jersey and New York. So where is the money coming from to make it deficit neutral? The do nothing Republicans lost again, not one of their amendments got to the floor.

Some of it will come from taking away tax loopholes in companies doing business out of the country, it will take 10 years to cover this cost. The government will cut food stamps entitlements, won't happen until 2014. The rest will come from taxing corporations. Sounds like voodoo economics for the next generation and future Congress’s to worry about, again.

The American people are being lied to daily by the administration. The second bubble is near if we don’t wake up and be heard, CONGRESS and OBAMA are incompetent and in bed with special interests daily ( unions and wall street ).

Face it neither side can solve America's economic problem

because the nations that own our debt have a greater

influence over our economy than our own politicians do and this is why the national debt and deficit matter! Nations are like people in that most seek to act in their perceived self interest which of course may be in conflict with ours Example, China and our trade imbalance you can apply this principle to every nation

on this planet! Articles like this are vain and futile

as neither side is worth defending and partisan politics

cause more problems than it will ever solve. Forget the

rhetoric Bonner is the speaker so let him submit the

first balanced budget and real deficit plan no excuses

and lip service and blame games, just do it but I know

that he won't because it is better to have a campaign

issue than submit that balanced budget that his party

has be mouthing off about for the past 31 years yet the

tea party has no problem accepting their failure to act

and shrink the government and balance the budget, All

presidents LIE, so nothing new here and they always will!

If only the best ideas and policies became law and were

implemented we could go a long way toward solving the

big problems but this will never happen as self serving

human nature and comprise will always get in the way!

daewalkur 15 months ago

Americans are so gullible and all politicians know this

and will continue this divide and conquer strategy until

our nation implodes as it will! It is a mathematical

certainty that we will default on our unpayable national

debt regardless of who the next 3 presidents or or which

party has the majority as this has no bearing on the

interest which keep increase that national debt! These

politicians are brain dead and cannot possibly solve

these horrendous problems yet partisan still drink the

kool aid thinking their side will magically solve these

problems when 31 years of collective failed policies

clearly demonstrate for all to see that it is impossible

for them to do it!!!

Hi Sheri,

This guy has told so many lies I can't count them any more. All he cares about is trashing the Constitution, becoming a cult dictator, and spending our money on himself and his minions. One of the reasons unemployment is so high is that explosive growth in government spending, such as the federal payroll, is crowding out private sector investment and hiring, by starving it of confidence in the future and skilled American human resources. Financial, human, and other resources must be released from the federal government by very large spending cuts, so private industry has the confidence and "raw materials" to lead us out of the recession. The government thinks it can do this with rules, agencies, programs, etc., but in reality all this "make work" is just sucking up resources and making the problem worse.

In most cases, the federal government does us the most good when it does nothing at all.
