Why is Christianity Such a Joke?
78Those of you who follow me here may have been a bit confused by my title, but from the MSM, I must conclude that (to them) Christianity really is just a joke. Over in the middle east, the islamic nations will not even allow ANY Christian houses of worship to be constructed. However, when the muslims move here and become citizens of America, they discover what freedom of religion truly means. I am quite proud to be a citizen of such a tolerant and open-minded society where one can choose to worship, or NOT to worship however the individual sees fit. I know that EVERYONE on earth heard about the FL preacher who cancelled his plans to have a mass burning of the koran. Again, the tolerance of America. In the middle east, our American FLAG and the Christian Bible are burned and desecrated frequently. Of course, the MSM always has a ready-made excuse for this behavior...usually, BLAME AMERICA!!
Tuesday in the state of Delaware, a proud Christian named Christine O'Donnell won the republican primary election and now gets to face a democrat in the general election for the senate seat there. This afternoon, I was treated to a few sound bites of her expressing her desire and efforts to live her life as a good Christian and to respect the Bible and the word of the Lord. Well, guess what followed her statements about faith? The hate-filled words of the comedian who was scorning and belittling her for being so damn stupid! It was really disheartening to hear the laughter of the crowd as this man made a few pretty insensitive and insulting comments about Christianity.
Most polls show that the majority of American citizens consider themselves to be Christian, many different branches of Christianity, but Christian nonetheless. What I do NOT understand is how and why the MSM believes that it is acceptable to disparage anyone who expresses Christian beliefs. Whether they like it or not, our founders founded America on Judeo-Christian ideals. PLEASE don't tell me this is incorrect, because it is the TRUTH!! However, in the bill of rights to our constitution, it was made crystal clear that a person has the right to choose and worship in any manner they see fit. Now, as the majority of citizens here do believe in one God or another, I wonder who those jerks were that I heard laughing about the nasty, rude, and hateful comments made about Ms. O'Donnell. In fact, it is a cottage industry in the MSM to mock values and beliefs any way possible. Remember the things they wrote and said about Beck's restoring honor rally? I am STILL puzzled about why they were so incensed. Seems to me that if we all a bit kinder and better to each other, our nation could only be strengthened by it.
Of course, there is one "religion" that the MSM praises with reckless and euphoric alactrity. I bet you already KNOW which group this is!!! Of course, it is the MUSLIMS!! A group that demonstrates NO tolerance for dissent of ANY kind. If these same MSM guys went to work in an islamic state and decided it was their duty to say ANYTHING negative they could devise about the muslim faith---like they do to Christianity---they would find themselves beheaded, hanged, or stoned to death mighty quickly.
My question is as my title states, WHY IS CHRISTIANITY SUCH A JOKE?? I firmly believe in folk's right to privacy, but if one wants to speak about having faith in a power higher than any here on Earth, is that REALLY an acceptable reason to make that person into the puchline of a tasteless joke? Why is the ACLU ALWAYS filing a new lawsuit against ANYTHING Christian? I haven't heard of them trying to launch an outreach program to the muslim world to try and introduce them to the strange concept of tolerance. Now,not only is the ACLU is actively working to marginalize Christian beliefs, but they are arm-in-arm with the MSM defending all aspects of the muslim beliefs. In their opinion, the ONLY reason anyone opposes a mosque at ground zero is because that person MUST simply be islamophobic. Of course, they would never even think for a minute that they might be Christian-phobic!
Sheri, I think many are jealous and others look down on us as being weak. They don't have a clue of the joy and peace you receive a a Christian because if they did they wouldn't be condescending, hateful and arrogant against anyone that dares to disagree.
I have never had a problem with differing religions until now. What we have allowed to happen to this country is despicable. America is jumping to Islam's tune and that is sad commentary on America.
I've read there's a public school in CA which has scheduled a special time of day for the muslim students to pray. Where's the ACLU? Studying it, they say. Too afraid to oppose the muslims, I say. The elite media and politicians have shown they have contempt for the American people, who are mainly Christians, and they're doing their best to scare us into being afraid to oppose the imam.
Sheri: I'll tell you where the ACLU is on this one. They're backing Anwar al-Awalaki, the American born Muslim cleric who was behind the underwear bomber and the Fort Hood shooter; and currently hiding out in Yemen. Just where I figured they would be. Great post! You are spot on with your opinions.
sheri
As I grow older and hopefully wiser I aspire to live by Christ Teachings; one in particular; "those that are ashamed of me I will in turn be ashamed of in front of my Father (Not being a biblical scholar I most likely got the exact wording worng) but having said all that I believe there are millions amon gst us that are reserving their special place in Hell's Hotel.
No one religion has a corner on the market but those that amuse themselves at the expense of other's belief's are leading Satan's Legions into battle.
Also those that kill in the name of a so called religion are right there with the heretics of amusement!
Unfortunately Sheri, the vast majority of Christians (including me) are no longer the salt of the earth. This causes others to see us as hypocrites; not without reason. (See 2 Peter vs 1-2).
What we are seeing is the begining of evil being unleashed like we've not seen before.
I have a few things to say; firstly the ACLU's letter "A" stands for American, so they have no ability to operate in the Muslim world protecting civil rights. I wish this were the case, but until they become the Global or World CLU it's just here.
Secondly, they have defended Christian rights many times; the problem is that they will not support government-funded endorsements of religion, which would include mandatory prayer in school or religious passages displayed on public buildings, because this violates separation of church and state. When Christians see these practices being challenged in court, they assume it's a challenge to Christianity itself, but this is not the case. When Christians want to pray on their own time in their own church or public property, the ACLU has consistently defended them.
Please read this list:
http://www.aclu.org/aclu-defense-religious-practic
It shows a few recent examples of the ACLU fighting for religious freedom. Some include Islam but you'll notice quite a few of them support Christians practicing their beliefs as well. I know religion is a sensitive topic, but in the case of the ACLU they defend without exception freedom of religion, and they defend without exception separation of church and state. There's no anti-Christianity going on.
Sheri, This and most Jews stand with you, the MSM is following a path. In the 1980's it was Christianity with all the TV shows and stations (Fallwell, Robertson, etc.) They moved Christian's to exclude others, if they didn't believe. A few of my friend's (Christian and Jew) were kept from others. The reason was, they did not want to partake in prayer groups at work. They were made to feel uncomfortable, and a good percentage left their jobs.
NEVER did they FEAR for their safety, the country was never at risk, and our laws were not in jeapordy. Today is a different story. A religion is nudging our society to change, they desire to have a life such as they led previously. They did leave their countries, evidentally for hypocritical reasons. That doesn't apply to all, but how are we supposed to tell the difference?
All minorities have had to endure some form of racisism, but never have the racisists been the minority. H
I'm soooo glad to have just found you, SheriSapp! Yes, "they truly have no comprehension about what it means to stick to your principles and beliefs". I have a hub in mind to write, something like Honest Truth First, Country Second. I did write one on the fact that radical Islam is working from INSIDE our country to eventually take it over. That's their strategy that I've seen used in Asia while I lived over there for 20 years. Islam is a cult, not a religion. I also wrote a hub, Muslim First, American Second, because I've seen moderate Muslims in Asia terrorized by the radical Islamists with threats to join the violent Jihad against their own neighbors, just because they are Christians. The same thing is possible in our own country, particularly a strategy they will use if they cannot gradually change our laws more and more towards Sharia Law. I sense here that since Obama's election an even heavier evil has been unleashed...I'm not saying I think/know he is the cause...it's at least that he is vulnerable because of his background to being used. Like you say, if we don't hold to our founding Christian principles, as Obama is not, this other is sliding in to take its place. Like Harvey says, this other is violence, not love, so that it jeopardizes the safety of any who do not follow them. Hoping with you that many luke warm Christians are reconnecting with Christ. I think a great spiritual sorting out is going on between those who will hold to their faith in Christ, and who will not.
All I can say is that we are judging a whole nation of peoples for a few people's actions and they are doing the exact same thing. That doesnt' make either of them better than the other. Christian religion strives to divide and so does Islamic ones. When we stop JUDGING then we will all be able to get along with each other.
Sheri, if you have ventured to read any of my hubs you would know that I am not with Organized religions either. All they seem to do is divide and most don't know what uncondtitional love and understanding and compassion truly are.
Why is Christianity such a joke?
I guess from inside the Christian perspective it can be difficult to understand. Let me try to explain (and please keep in mind I am NOT interested in debating the truth or falsity of Christian belief, only explaining a certain perspective).
Christianity claims that a man was born to a virgin woman. Humans cannot be born to virgins. This violates laws of biology and physiology.
Christianity claims that a man converted water into wine. This is impossible, and violates a number of physical laws.
Christianity claims that a man died, and came back to life. This is also impossible. No living thing can die and come back to life, so this violates basic physical and biological laws.
There's more where that came from, but that's enough for now.
So imagine someone openly and loudly declared they had found the "truth." You would ask, what is this truth? And they reply: 10,000 years ago, a man got pregnant and gave birth to a child. That child grew up, transformed a chicken into an elephant (among other things), and when he died, instead of falling over dead, he melted and became a puddle of mud.
You see how his story violates the same physical and biological laws, in the same ways, as the Jesus story. You would be forgiven, Sheri, if you burst out laughing when this person with the "truth" told this story with a straight face. Whatever else the 10,000 year old man said, did, his message, his example, etc, will never make up for the ridiculous claims made about his life.
Hopefully now you can see why Christianity is seen as a joke by many.
I like how Christians talk about care and love but for the longest time if u said something the church didn't like, u were tortured and killed. Look at all the contridictions in the bible and yet people still believe in. Too eachs own I guess.
Well allow me to explain; Many Christians shove their religion down other people's throats. They preach "love thy neighbor" then turn around and attack people who disagree with them, Gays, bisexuals, or trans-gender people. Christianity also seems to be a licence to hate people. Christmas for example, was a holiday that the Christians hijacked largely from the pagans, whom they then urned around to either convert, or destroy them. Christians accuse wiccans of being satanists and terrible people, and yet alot of their customs come from the pagans, which wicca i based off of.
Christianity is noting more than the height of human ignorance. It is more akin to a cult than an actual religion.
I believe Christianity can be simplified as such:
Christianity: Believe what I believe of I'll destroy you.
and
Christianity: Love thy neighbor, unless they're Jewish, atheist, agnostic, muslim, wiccan, gay, bi, trans, Buddhist, Hindu, Taoist, etc, etc
I don't think u are weak. I think u are ignorant at best, stupid and intolerant if not-
No you're right, Christianity stopped doing that during the crusades. Christianity bombs people now...oh how I love a barbecue.
The answer to your question only requires one word:
Christians.
Christians are why Christianity is a joke. Historically, their hypocrisy is completely unmatched. (Love thy neighbor, but try to "save" him if he isn't like you and use violence if he doesn't come quietly. Be loving of all and turn the other cheek, but shoot down and condemn other points of view if they don't resemble your own. Just a few examples.)
And you, Sherri... are not helping the case with your article. You really blew your credibility with your blatantly biased and uneducated views of Islam and Muslims. Man, even your use of punctuation is accusatory. ("TRUTH!!!!!!!1!!!one) Do you understand that it's Christians who spout this brand of ignorance who generate inspiration for anti-Christian sentiment? There's your answer. Will you read it and actually consider it, or will you just look at it and then disregard everything because it's not what you wanted to hear? That's what you did with Jeff's...
Hm... another reason Christianity is a joke: It's undisguisedly artificial. It doesn't take any kind of knowledge in science or theology to know that it was never a real religion. Just look at history and do some higher-level thinking. Christianity was always used as a tool by kings and governments for political purposes. After the collapse of the Roman empire, education became even harder for the average person to receive. The pagan rulers of the Byzantine Empire realized that the teachings of Christianity evoked enough fear in their uneducated citizens that the only way to protect their power, and prevent their empire from being overthrown by angry peasants, was to control them with Christianity. In AD 431, the Third Ecumenical Council met to make a very important political decision. This council, this group of nature-worshiping pagans, created the idea that the rabbi called Jesus of Nazareth was the son of God. They completely fabricated this idea as a political tactic. Yet people accept his divinity. It's a little ridiculous when you think about it. Considering the answers to an age-old question are right there and well-documented in Roman history.
Not to mention nearly every aspect of Christianity is a modified version of an older Jewish or pagan concept. Christianity, AND Islam, are exactly the same in this way. They're both religions that were fabricated pretty quickly and pretty... sketchily.
Now, hear me out, I was raised as a Russian Orthodox. I personally know the good Christianity can do in the world. Charity is stressed in the Christian faith, and this creates a lot of good and kindness in people. When Christianity preaches love and practices what it preaches, it's beautiful. When any religion or group goes out of their way to help people who need it, it's beautiful.
I'm sure you can tell this by now: I no longer accept Christianity on faith. I don't accept any religion on faith. All I can say is that, even after my annoyance with this article, I'm legitimately sorry that Christianity is seen as a joke when it can do so many good things. But why is it a joke? Because of all the destruction it's also caused... and the mentality of Christians who fancier themselves holier than everyone else and use ignorance as a compensation for intelligence and research.

Sheri,
I think those who belittle Christianity are envious of those of us who actually know how to express love for one another. They are so hateful of themselves they can't comprehend true love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
